They don’t just eat the carpet – carpet beetles like a wide range of fabrics, upholstery and household items including clothing. Adult carpet beetles live outdoors to feed on pollen, but enter homes through windows and doors, or on cut flowers and other vegetation. Once inside, the female beetle lays her eggs on preferred food larval food sources, generally anything made of wool, fur or silk.
