Bald-Faced Hornet

Bald-Faced Hornet

These hornets have white faces, hence the name. Their large, papery nests are most often built in trees, but might also be hanging under eaves or other elevated structures. Although bald-faced hornets are important predators of other insect pests, they are also aggressive towards humans if they feel their nest is endangered.
